Revealed… Nature’s Secrets On How To Remove Pimple Marks

Did you know that your lifestyle could be responsible for an outbreak of pimples on your skin?

Understanding the effect of our lifestyle choices on the pimple breakout goes a long way in preparing us in the fight against pimples and pimple marks. Managing lifestyle and taking necessary precautions against external factors can not only help repair the damage caused by pimples and pimple marks, but also help prevent the occurrence of pimples altogether.

Lifestyle causes of pimples marks

The love of spices

Eating spicy foods have a direct impact on the outbreak of pimples. The acidic lycopene content in tomatoes and peppers cause an imbalance in the pH levels of the body leading to pimples.

What you must do?
To find out if spicy foods are the cause of your pimples, avoid such food items for a month and record the difference. If you realise that cutting down on spicy food is keeping your skin clear, avoiding it is the best way for preventing any possibility of skin damage.

Nature’s recommendation
Include natural herbs like basil, parsley and oregano in your diet as they not only increase the taste quotient but their rich Vitamin C content also helps nourish the skin from within and eliminate scars.

Pore clogging cosmetics

Certain cosmetic products such as lotions have a heavy content of mineral oil. While these are highly effective as a moisturiser, they tend to clog your pores resulting in formation of pimples.

What you must do?
Choose facial products which are distinctly labelled ‘non-comedogenic’, meaning these products contain ingredients that prevent clogging.
Also, non-comedogenic products do not in themselves mean 100% protection from pimples. There may be instances when you are using such products and still experience an outbreak; this could be due to allergic reactions to certain ingredients in the product. In such an event, make sure to consult your dermatologist.

Nature’s recommendation
Using Ayurvedic products can be a perfect solution if you are prone to skin allergies, as there is a lesser risk of allergic reactions from natural ingredients.
Combine equal parts of red sandalwood paste, rose water and coconut oil into a smooth paste and apply it on the affected areas of your face. Leave it overnight and wash it off with cold water in the morning.

Harmful OTC dark spot treatment

There is a possibility that your OTC dark spot treatment cream may be worsening the blemishes on your face. These creams mostly contain benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, or sulphur that lightens dark spots by bleaching the skin layers. If overused, these can burn the top layer of the skin and damage the lustre of the skin permanently.

What you must do?
Use creams that have skin-friendly ingredients and do not have damaging side effects. Creams that have herbal nutrients and antioxidants will help you reduce inflammations and heal without damaging the skin layer. Also, use a cream with natural anti-bacterial properties to keep your skin clear of any residual bacteria.

Nature’s recommendation
The pairing of amla (Indian Gooseberry) juice with aloe vera gel makes for an excellent concoction for removing blemishes without harming the skin. The Vitamin C content in amla and aloe vera promotes skin collagen and elasticity. Also, aloe vera helps protect the skin against the pimple causing bacteria.

External causes of pimple marks

Impurities in the air

The toxic pollutants in the air not only affect the skin externally but also internally. When inhaled there is a risk of these toxins entering the bloodstream, resulting in the body’s attempt to excrete them via the skin, causing pimples.

What you must do?
Ayurveda advocates internal fortification of the skin via balanced diet and ample water intake to flush out impurities that are inhaled without letting them enter the blood stream.

Nature’s recommendation
You must consume foods that are rich in anti-oxidants which fortify the immune system against cellular damage that leads to pimples and scars. Berries are a good option as you can pair them with your breakfast cereal or yogurt. Also walnuts, whole wheat bread and oats are good source of anti-oxidants as they contain Selenium that becomes proteins to make the anti-oxidant selenoproteins.

Stress

Pimples can very well be the product of stress as it triggers a vicious cycle of hormonal imbalance and stimulation of the oil glands to make testosterone which increases the oil production in the glands.

What you must do?
Healthy activities help release ‘Serotonin’ also known as happy hormones that allow you to destress and promote well-being.

Nature’s recommendation
Include a fitness activity as part of your daily routine as it will increase your serotonin levels. This will balance your moods and give you a sense of wellness, making you better equipped to deal with stress, which in turn prevents pimples outbreaks caused by the same.

Cosmetic solutions need not be the go-to options as they only work in the short run and have nothing to offer as far as the health of your skin is concerned. A healthy lifestyle and improving your diet will go a long way in helping you deal with pimples and pimple marks.
